Welcome! You have arrived at the home of QUEEN MEDB ENCAMPMENT, INC., a Celtic re-enactment group whose sole purpose is to bring the history, legends and, sometimes, the mythologies of the Celts to public awareness.

Called the First Europeans by historians, these people were first recognized as a distinct ethnicity in Asia Minor some 3000 years ago. The predominant people of Europe for 2 centuries, they gave the Romans a taste of their fighting abilities, much to Rome's dismay. Tribal traders, always on the move, they mixed freely with whatever indigenous peoples they encountered. It is, therefore, extremely unlikely that anyone of European ancestry cannot justifiably lay claim to the heritage of 'Celt'... the name, much like North American natives, given to them by their enemies. That appellation was awarded to them by the Greeks and its loose interpretation is 'barbarian'...and that a name given to people who invented SOAP!

This 501 C (3), all volunteer organization, has been together for 21 years and in the ensuing pages you will find a veritable feast of information on the Celts.

The Encampment newsletter, AN TARBH, updated monthly, contains a little bit of everything; Gaelic languages, exquisite photographs of Celtic places, articles from world renowned writers and historians, links to other Celtic sites, places to go and things to do. Included, also, are pictures of some of the volunteers engaged in activities during Fairs and Festivals. We have even contributed recipes from our Queen Medb Encampment cookbook, as during performance weekends, we prepare our own foods and eat and drink in the manner we would have in the time span we represent - which is 1 BC to approximately 1500 AD. We have even provided a place for you to join our merry band or just say hello!

We trust you will enjoy your stay and will return to our site many times. Go raibh maith agat! Thank you!
